Leveraging the Amazon S3 Infrastructure To Serve You ArcGIS Server Cached Map Services
07-Mar-2011 ROK will be speaking at this years SERUG conference in Jacksonville, FL, May 2-4. We'll be discussing how you can take advantage of the Amazon S3 Infrastructure To Serve You ArcGIS Server Cached Map Services. This will focus on how you can use the 'cloud' to your advantage right now. No hypotheticals on how it might help you in the future - but rather how you can now. Check out the abstract below. Hope to see you there! The Amazon S3 services is a very easy, and inexpensive way to dramatically speed up your ArcGIS Server web applications. Its as easy as copying your tile cache and using a little custom code (which I'll show and share) in your apps, and all of the sudden, you are serving tiles from the cloud!
Why is this a good idea? Well, the bandwidth available to you is virtually unlimited. Many times, your organization has limited bandwidth and cant serve your tiles fast enough to the public. This method eliminates that bottleneck and gets your tiles out fast, which in turn, makes for a great experience for your web users.
