ROK has 'Featured Map' on esri.com front page

14-Jun-2011 For the second time in just a few months, ROK Technologies has been featured on the front page of esri.com as the 'Featured Map'.  This time around, its for a pretty cool application that we developed for FltPlan.com that allows pilots to enter in their tail number and view their past flights.  It has all the associated flight data included too, like heading, speed, and a weather radar snapshot at time of departure!  Its was developed with a Flex & ArcGIS Server api front end, with ColdFusion doing all the heavy back end stuff.

The infrastructure of this application is especially interesting.  Much of the application is being hosted on the Amazon S3 service (not to be confused with EC2) as well as the cached tiles.  Really fast.  Its a great demonstration of taking advantage of the Amazon S3 infrastructure along with the power of ArcGIS Server, Adobe Flex, and ColdFusion.
